When you or a loved one is experiencing ADHD, depression or anxiety, the symptoms can be extremely difficult. We know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed and defeated and not know what to do next.

Practitioners and Staff

Zachary Burns, MA, LCSW
Mr. Burns is a psychotherapist with a graduate degree from the University of Chicago in Clinical Social Work and an undergraduate degree from Purdue University in Behavioral Science. Mr. Burns is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Indiana and is the owner of Mind States, a private practice in Valparaiso, Indiana.
Mr. Burns has over ten years of experience working with individuals with mood, stress, and attention disorders. Mr. Burns also works within the realm of peak performance, both with individuals and groups whom are involved in high-stress and demanding endeavors, most often related to business, academics, and sports.
Outside his private practice, Mr. Burns regularly presents on topics related to stress management and self-care, peak performance, post-traumatic stress, decision-making, human behavior and mental illness.
Whether working with pathology or peak performance, Mr. Burns believes reaching goals is a matter of removing obstacles to growth – a process which, once achieved, allows one to thrive and live the life they desire.
Mr. Burns utilizes all the modalities and methods offered to his clients and does his best to "walk the walk". He believes his ability to be a good therapist is contingent on being a whole person, not just a therapist. Mr. Burns enjoys camping, hiking, kayaking, fly fishing, wood working, playing piano, and spending time with his friends and family as well as his wife, Samantha.

Samantha Burns, MS, ICP, RYT-200
Samantha is the office manager and a neurofeedback technician at Mind States. She received a graduate degree from Loyola University Chicago in accounting and an undergraduate degree in business from Purdue University. Samantha has been working at Mind States since 2017 and has received extensive training on QEEG and neurofeedback.
Samantha is also a Registered Yoga Teacher and enjoys practicing mindfulness, learning about nutrition, and a variety of integrative approaches to health and wellness. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, kayaking, cooking, fishing, camping, and spending time with friends and family.
